Because of the ship layout and strange angles of the exterior, you will end up (usually) with a balcony that may be 50% larger but not as enjoyable. For one, you end up looking into the neighbor’s balcony/cabin when stepping out to the railing. So the reality is there is no benefit to the larger balcony staterooms on the Epic. The clever design of the cabin means that even though it is small, there’s plenty of floor space and storage space. I was cruising with my brother and I didn’t mind the unique bathroom design at all. There are a few areas of the ship where service could improve and is inconsistent with what you’d expect with NCL. Mainly this was found among some of the bartenders throughout the ship who looked like they were just overworked and tired. The current pricing to use the Mandara Thermal Suite is about $300 for a week (On a 9-day transatlantic crossing, it was $319 including all fees).

Most people who I know that have booked in the Haven suites tell me that they’d probably not pay full price for the experience but rather bid for an upgrade when possible. At 322 square feet, The Haven spa suites are the largest spa cabins and accommodate two passengers. They feature a queen-sized circular bed, an ensuite hot tub, butler and concierge service and access to The Haven's private pool, lounge, restaurant and bar. These Family Mini-Suites with a Balcony are perfect if you want to bring the kids. With room for up to four they feature two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed, an upper bed and a sofa bed. In addition to the sitting area, luxury bath with shower or tub and your own private balcony, where the whole family can hang out and enjoy the view.

With two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed, these Mid-Ship Inside Staterooms can accommodate up to two guests. They also feature a separate bathroom with shower and access to some really great amenities. And because they are mid-ship staterooms, you'll have easy access to everything on board. Each Studio Stateroom has two hand towels, three makeup or face towels, and two large body towels. Of course, if you would like more you only need to ask your cabin steward. If these towels are hung up, they are not replaced and can be reused. If, however, guests place these towels on the floor, then the stateroom attendants will replace them. The bathroom area is comprised of a small sink and mirror with several storage selves and cupboards, as well as a pull-out trash can.
I cruised in the Norwegian Epic in an inside cabin and had family members staying in a balcony cabin. As for privacy, if you are sitting on the section of the balcony that is covered (which is closest to the balcony door), it is total privacy. You can do whatever you want there and no one will see you unless you are docked and someone is standing dockside. That section of the balcony is the same size as any standard balcony on the ship (as these cabins have a double sized balcony). Move closer to the rail to the section of the balcony that is uncovered, and then you don't have the privacy but you have the open sky above and can even get a tan if you want. I guess it depends on what you want with regards to balcony size/space, however after a quick look its looks like the cabin are mostly "family" cabins.

One of my favorite spaces on the Epic is the Mandara Spa and Thermal Suite. While it’s no longer the biggest or the most fabulous, it’s still an incredible retreat. Modeled after traditional Turkish Baths, it features hot tubs and a relatively large therapy pool with various jets for aqua therapy. The Thermal Suites also feature everything you’d expect to see in a high-end spa including a steam room, sauna, heated chaise loungers, and rain showers.
With all the excitement that surrounded the 2014 launch of the Norwegian Getaway and the 2013 sister ship Norwegian Breakaway, it’s easy to forget the 2010 Norwegian Epic. A prototype for the Breakaway and Getaway, the Epic is larger and carries more guests than the other two ships. Studio passengers enjoy exclusive access to the Studio Lounge (indoor relaxation and dining venue). In 2020, NCL recategorized fleetwide the Mini-Suite cabin category, renaming it to "Club Balcony Suite" and adding free perks. The change didn't affect the staterooms' deck locations or cabin numbers.
